Resources for Joomla

At the conference it was decided that two website platforms would be accepted as best practices for JETAA chapters, WordPress and Joomla.

According to Wikipedia, Joomla! is an open source content management system platform for publishing content on the World Wide Web and intranets as well as a Model–view–controller (MVC) Web application framework. It is written in PHP, stores data in MySQL and includes features such as page caching, RSS feeds, printable versions of pages, news flashes, blogs, polls, search, and support for language internationalization.

Jason Porath, webmaster for JETAASC, created an amazing Joomla template that is open to share with all JETAA Chapters. It is modeled after their website.

  1. webmaster says:

Personally, I would like to see more for the Joomla section. We use Joomla for our own site, and I believe it is a better and more flexible system. Highlighting existing free extensions, such as Community Builder, would greatly help provide more tools for Joomla users. Providing a link to the main Joomla website, where they host tutorials and numerous extensions would also help.
