The Pacific Northwest is a beautiful place and we want to welcome you to it. Whether you are returning to Washington, Northern Idaho, or Western Montana, the Pacific Northwest JET Alumni Association wants to help you make your transition a smooth one. Our events primarily take place in Seattle, our chapter headquarters, but we are happy to support activities farther inland. We have a strong, tightly knit community and you can choose what you want to take away as a PNWJETAA member.
If you are just interested in occasionally socializing, we offer monthly Happy Hour events; if you are interested in participating in or even planning something bigger, we have something up your alley, too. Even if you aren’t interested in joining our steering council or planning an event, you shouldn’t miss the first major PNWJETAA event for returning JETs: Transitions, our chapter’s career fair. Offering not just your typical resume-building classes and job panels (though we have those too) we bring in speakers from all over the country – people who know what it’s like to transition out of JET – to talk about the state of the workplace and give you tools to thrive.
No matter who you are or where you live, it’s important to have a support network. PNWJETAA can be that support network for you. When our friends and family get sick of us talking about “the time in Japan when…” we can count on our fellow JET alumni to lend an ear. More than that though, PNWJETAA can introduce you to a closely knit community of internationally-minded people located in an atmosphere of global companies, volunteer organizations, and local businesses with strong ties to Japan, Asia, and the rest of the world.
