Alan Mockridge

Alan Mockridge was a JET from the UK. Now living in Santa Clara, CA with his Japanese wife, he has become part of the JETAA NC community. Alan was an AET from 1992-94 in the small, coastal town of Ohtsuchi in Iwate-ken. He taught English in three high schools – Ohtsuchi, Kamaishi-kita and Yamada.

The town of Ohtsuchi was photographed abundantly following the earthquake and tsunami. It gained much of its fame from the destruction it endured, but Alan knows it differently.

From 19-27th September 2011, Alan returned to Iwate to promote understanding of current conditions and the recovery efforts after the devastating and tragic March 11th earthquake and tsunami.
