US-12 Portland

Welcome to JETAA Portland!  We are an active chapter that supports all JET alumni. We warmly welcome any new members, whether you’ve recently returned from Japan or you were a JET 20 years ago. JETAA Portland is headquartered in Portland, Oregon, and we cover the areas of Oregon, southern Idaho, and Vancouver, WA. We also have a sub-chapter in Eugene, Oregon.

We have many social, professional, and cultural events throughout the year, including an annual Shinnenkai and Bounenkai, a hanamikai, hiking, networking and career events, a golf tournament, and the famous Iron Chef Competition. We also partner with other Japan-related organizations for bigger events such as Mochitsuki. On a monthly basis we check out Japanese restaurants in the area, read and discuss Japan-related books for the book club, practice speaking Japanese at J-Kaiwa, and help each other with job searches in the Job Seekers group.

Whether you attend one event a year or several events each month, being involved in JETAA Portland is a great way to meet new people, make more friends, do some networking, stay abreast of Japan-related events happening in the area, and share your love of Japan.
