JETAA USA is an incredible organization built on the combined strength and success of the 19 chapters and sub-chapters across the United States. With common goals of promoting the JET Program, assisting returning JETs with acclimating to life in the U.S. and strengthening the ties between JET alumni and the community, I feel it is vital for us to work together to increase the visibility and success of the JET Program and JETAA on a national and international level.
I am very passionate about the success of the organization which I believe I have demonstrated over the past 14 years since finishing my time in Japan. I am running for a 5th term as a JETAA USA Country Representative to continue my work of building a strong national organization that works together to elevate the JET Program and alumni association. I want to continue to have an open dialogs with all the chapter leaders and provide information and success stories from all the chapters so we can learn from each other. Every chapter is led by amazing, vibrant and dedicated alumni that commit so much time and energy to promoting the JET Program, put on events, increase membership, strengthen community connections, and I want to help orchestrate a central place where we can all benefit from our individual unique contributions.
I have had the opportunity to work closely with many of our chapter leaders on issues that affect their local chapter. This past year some of the topics included membership growth & development, strengthening chapter’s financial situations, working with leadership transitions and coming up with future chapter goals. Since I am on the Board of USJETAA I had the opportunity to visit and work with the leaders in Colorado, Alaska and Atlanta. I hope to continue these chapter visits in 2019 in person and on the phone.
This past year as Country Representative I feel I not only accomplished what I set out to do, but surpassed it. I am lucky to have worked with two other amazing country reps this past year that are committed to supporting the chapter. Through open communication and brainstorming we had a great working relationship to offer the alumni the best support.
As Country Representative I want to help chapters utilize the amazing benefits of USJETAA. This non-profit extension of our organization that can help all chapters elevate their events, offerings, and support to their local members.
I’m member of the New York alumni chapter since returning from Japan in 2005. My involvement with JETAANY for the past 14 years has allowed me to see this organization grow tremendously not only in membership but strengthening our visibility in the community. I currently sit as the Chairman of the Board of Directors and have had the opportunity to represent JETAA at many high level meetings and events including creating an open forum of communication with the Tokyo Governor and his office to help open the door to the expansion of the JET Program in Tokyo. I have also met with many representatives of the CLAIR office in New York and Tokyo to continually share the success and contributions that JETAA provides to the JET Program as a whole.
I want to continue the strong working relationship with AJET and alumni chapter leaders around the world. Through my work and relationship with the chapters in the US I believe I can properly represent JETAA USA on the international level.
I believe my experience, passion and dedication can contribute to the national efforts of JETAA. I sincerely appreciate the consideration to be elected as one of the U.S. Country Representatives for a 5th term. I am truly passionate in seeing the growth and longevity of the JET program and the alumni association.
